Eric watched his mother crawl up the stairs in her new form. When she was entranced he had explicitly told her not to think the transformation was strange, and be happy with the changes. Glad to see it worked he put the orb back in the box. He stared at the pile of rags laying on the ground, and the reality of what he had done hit him. Holy shit, I changed my own mother into a spider queen... Alright, this was OK. The trick was to stay calm, keep it composed. Just. Fucking. Breathe.
Eric stood in the middle of the kitchen for a few minutes, just thinking about how not to screw this up too much. He picked up the rags Natalie had left, bundled them up, and deposited them upstairs in her room. People could make strange assumptions based on a heap of tattered clothing laying on the floor. Better make sure Natalie is still doing OK. He knocked on the bathroom door.
"I'm a little busy in here. What is it?" Came the reply from Natalie. Judging by her voice she really was in the middle of something.
"It's me, Eric. Just checking to see if you're doing OK in there. I put your clothes in the hamper." Or what's left of them He added silently.
"I'm OK honey. Just cleaning up." Riiiight, cleaning Eric thought. Well, she seemed to take the change very well. No point in hanging around, waiting for the conclusion. He'd check on her again tomorrow. For now he had other things to do.
"Great, I'll be off for a little bit." He said in a slapdash way, then quickly went back down as he saw Whitney walking towards the front door.
