Temptation was real and you really wanted to use it, but in the end you managed to hold yourself back and wait for a brand new day. You did scan the buttons and practiced setting things up. Just like back in the park, time froze as you were using the device. This gave you time to scan the extensive lists of physical and non physical swaps. Like you could swap intangible things like social status, names, and so much more. It was crazy, so you spent some time familiarizing yourself with the options. Time being frozen also meant you didn’t have to rush when you saw someone you wanted to swap.
This distracted you through the rest of Sunday and that night, you could hardly sleep.
When you alarm clock blared to life in the morning, you instantly hit the off button and sat up. Usually, you liked to lay in bed for a good ten minutes before dragging yourself out. Now that you had something amazing to do today, you didn’t want to wait. Besides, if you got to school early, then you had more time to play around before classes. Making sure the remote was tucked securely inside your bag, you showered, changed and went downstairs for breakfast.
“Morning, Michael.” Your mom smiled at you as you grabbed yourself a poptart. “You’re up early.”
“Eh, had to use the bathroom and couldn’t wait.” You lied and saw her roll her eyes. Your youngest sister and brother, Stella (9) and Kevin (13) were eating cereal at the table already. “Did Hannah leave already?” You inquired about your older sister.
“She had to go to college early for some reason.” You mom replied.
Dang, you debated swapping vehicles with her. You had a license, but no car. The downside to a large family. Swapping car ownership with your mom was tempting, but then you weren’t sure what would happen to Kevin and Hannah with them getting to school. Your mom usually drove them.
“Can you drop me off at the high school?” You asked quickly, already planning a lie. “I want to ask my teacher something before class.” If your mom drove you, you would get to school faster than the bus would get you there.
“Of course, I’m glad to see you taking your studies seriously.” Your mom smiled at you. “We’ll leave in 10 minutes.”
“Thanks, mom.” You replied and were excited about the events to come. You and your younger siblings soon got ushered into the minivan and your mom drove you all to your schools.
