Chapter #6

You swap something else

You might need to be quick to choose if you wanted to help the situation - or at least, you would if the remote didn't also stop time. You quickly aimed and pressed the button, providing a holographic display of you, the woman causing trouble, and two lists of traits to swap, one attached to each of you. Also, of course, time had swapped, resulting in all sound abruptly cutting out... including the shouting, then you took a look through the list. Very quickly, an option sticks out to you - 'Life'. If it worked how you assumed, then you would be seen as her, while she would be placed in your role, and then from there you could try and mellow the situation. It might be odd from his perspective (and to anybody else who'd heard her) for her to suddenly calm down and apologize, but then she was already making a spectacle of herself, and you figured that it would still be appreciated even if it was odd. On the other hand, though, you would then be in the life of a complete stranger, while she was in your life - and you'd probably have to hope that, with people not noticing the swaps, the remote would make the necessary adjustments for her to take on your role, since you weren't sure about entrusting a stereotypical Karen with your life.

However, while you did want to do swaps involving yourself, you were curious about if you really had to be a target. Each image had it's own list of traits attached, so that implied there could be more than two. Perhaps this could double as an opportunity to test out some of the remote's more nebulous options without ending up messing yourself up - and given how she was the kind to make a scene in public, you were a little more accepting of swaps going wrong for her. Maybe you could give some traits over to the college boy she was yelling at that would make her less angry and him more confident - or maybe give her entire personality to him, though then having someone with that personality actually working at a store might just lead to more like this happening. Besides him, though, you were having trouble thinking of other targets with the other people around just being random people minding their own business, but another thought was entering in from the back of your mind - would the remote work on things that weren't human? You couldn't see any animals in the mall from a quick glance around, which you'd assume would work if the remote worked on humans, but the clothing store she was in had some mannequins in the window - maybe she'd be better off spending some time as one of them, or perhaps another object would catch your eye to swap her with (maybe even an animal could be around, who knows?).

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
1. Swap lives with her.

*Pen*
2. Swap her with another target.

*Pen*
3. Another swap for her.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
