Moving your eyes back to the show - which had cut away from Mickey - you were surprised by how it looked pretty similar. You were expecting the main character taking your mother's attributes would change the show a lot... until the show went to a shot that featured your mother's head on Mickey's cartoonish body. Your eyes widened. This... wasn't how you expected the swap to go. You slowly turned your head to the side.
There he was. Well, his head, anyway.
Mickey Mouse was sitting next to you with your mother's body.
Like Peach's body earlier, his head seemed to gain a bit more texture than with the limited CGI of the show and his ears seemed to now have a fixed position due to not having a viewpoint to constantly face, but... it was Mickey Mouse.
"Mickey...?" you asked.
"Aw, Michael, y'know you can just call me Mom, haha!" he said, turning to look at you. "What'd you wanna say?"
"...Nothing," you said.
"Well, y'know you can tell me anything bothering ya if you change your mind." With that, Mickey went back to watching his former show. Looking past Mickey, you could see some family photos now had Mickey's head in place of your mother's. This... was surreal. You had to manually turn James into Puppymonkeybaby, but somehow you just... brought Mickey Mouse into reality by accident. Was it the social position swap? The head swap? The occupation swap, even? You picked up the remote and pressed a button to bring up the channel and the show was now called 'Katherine and the Roadster Racers'.
"Puppymonkeybaby," Puppymonkeybaby said as he saw it pop up, as if to just drive home how twisted reality became. You pulled your phone out of your pocket and did some browsing.
'Katherine Mouse', a woman with a mouse's body, was now Disney's mascot.
Debuted in 1928's Steamboat Willie, just like Mickey did. Created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks after losing the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, just like Mickey was. It all just seemed the same, at least from the quick skim you were doing, only your mother's head was on Mickey's body and her name was in his. She was part of a trio with Donald Duck and Goofy. She was the Sorcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia. She wielded a Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts. She tried to save Wasteland in 'Epic Katherine'. All the other characters, including the similar-looking Minnie, were all the same, as you were seeing both on the screen and on TV. Turning your head back to it, though, it was definitely your mother in the show, just with a cartoon mouse body. Double-checking your phone, she was even lesbian partners with Minnie Mouse like Mickey was before, and had a bunch of Mickey's comic relatives. A quick glimpse at social media revealed your new mother had taken the surname - Mickey Jones.
The implications of vice versa were... bizarre, but then you heard the door open.
"Honey, I'm home!" your father announced, getting Mickey's attention.
"Aw, welcome home, David!" Mickey welcomed him as he entered the living room, and they shared a hug... and a kiss on the lips.
"Hi, Daddy!" Heather greeted.
"Hi, Dad," you greeted, turning your phone screen off.
"Puppymonkeybaby," Puppymonkeybaby 'greeted'.
"Hello, kids," he enthusiastically said as he crouched down at Puppymonkeybaby walking over to him.
"Puppy." Lick. "Monkey." Lick. "Baby." Lick.
"Puppymonkeybaby to you too, Puppymonkeybaby!" he said playfully.
"Say, David," Mickey began as your father got back up to look at him, wiping his face. "d'ya think you could watch the kids? Y'know how it can get keeping an eye on Puppymonkeybaby, haha!"
"Sorry, sweetie, but I've got to work on a case," David said with a sigh.
"...Oh..." a cartoonishly dejected Mickey replied.
"Yeah, sorry about that," Dad replied, starting to move away, but quickly kissing Mickey on the cheek and putting a hand behind his 'wife's' back, in a place Heather and Puppymonkeybaby couldn't see that made Mickey blush. "But you know I love you, Mickey."
"G-gosh, I love ya too, David," Mickey replied with an awkward smile as his new husband started walking away.
"I can take care of Puppymonkeybaby!" Heather enthusiastically said, hugging him.
"Puppymonkeybaby!" Puppymonkeybaby said.
"Aww, thanks, Heather, but you're a little too young to take care of him on your own," Mickey told her, going over and stroking her head. "I'm gonna have to watch ya!" Puppymonkeybaby gave Mickey a little lick on the cheek before Mickey went back to sit next to you.
"What about Michael?" Heather asked.
"Um..." you said, looking at the strange scene you'd made. "I, uh, don't know how to take care of kids," you awkwardly told them as Mickey sat down next to you and sighed.
"I know, pal," he told you before talking quietly as Heather turned her attention back to the TV. "Y'know, I love all my kids, but sometimes I wish I was in that show racin' around with Minnie and Donald." Unsure what to say, you just tried giving Mickey a small hug, which he returned with no idea of how awkward this was. "Thanks, pal," he replied before releasing you with a motherly kiss on the cheek.
You had turned your little brother into Puppymonkeybaby and put Mickey Mouse's head on your mother's shoulders, and as far as the world was concerned, this is how things always were. And strangely enough... you enjoyed this bizarre, jarring turn of events. You wanted to keep going, to keep blending the reality of your family with the bizarreness of fiction... and you thought you would be the perfect first target. You weren't sure about any more weird animal characters, but you'd already turned into Princess Peach earlier - why not do it again, or become someone else? Either that, or you could just try making the rest of your family as weird as your new brother and mother, surrounding yourself with strange mixes of fiction and reality.
Or maybe things were strange enough right now... maybe.
