Tyler was bored out of his mind just sitting there as punishment during recess. The ceiling tiles began boring him even.
It wasnt fair, he thought. Why should he be punished for not listening to what some dumb lady has to say?
Then he looked down and saw that there was a book that wasn't there before.
(Heh, lady's so dumb she forgot her book) Tyler thought. Clearly bored and with nothing else to do he grabbed her book and opened it. Reading it he saw the usual "better yourself" words.
"Work on yourself"
"Find out your path to happiness"
"Unlock your true happy self"
"What a bunch of baloney" Tyler said. He closed the book. To him these were just typical words adults used without really meaning it.
He was hoping to get out of here soon so school would end and he'd go back to playing video games, the ones his parents would call "violent".
Suddenly the door opened and the guidance counselor came in and said "alright Tyler recess is up. Time to get back to class. I trust things went well with Ms Wong?" She said. She then noticed his book.
"Oh I see she gave you a copy of her book" she said.
Tyler noticed he was still holding the book.
"No way. I was just bored and was reading it to see how dumb it was" he said putting the book down.
"Very well, back to class then" she said.
He got up and was going to get back to class. The words in Ms Wong's book though resonated in his mind and he didn't know why. He also didn't notice his hair growing a bit longer.
