"S-s-stay back! I-I'm warning you!"
To your surprise, you are confronted by a woman almost exactly of your proportions! You raise your hands in surrender, completely caught off guard by this unexpected confrontation. The small mouse woman again musters up the courage to speak.
"D-don't move! I've killed before, I'll do it again! W-who are you?"
Though you weren't in a position to negotiate, it was clear the woman holding you at needlepoint was not the the cold blooded killer she claimed to be. With your eyes adjusting to the dim light of her den, you took a moment to take in your would-be captor. Much like yourself, were it not for size, she could nearly pass as human aside from a few additional pieces; in her case, mouse ears and a tail. Despite her shabby, homemade clothes and unkept blonde hair, her beauty still strikes you. It was also clear she was considerably more afraid of you than you were of her... Though, that may not keep you from getting stabbed...
You raise you hands in the air, doing your best to seem like as little a threat as possible. "Look, I'm a fairy from a nearby village. I came to explore the human world and I accidentally found the entrance to your home. I was just curious, this is the first thing I've seen in the human world that was my size and I got curious! Honestly, I mean you no harm!"
The mouse girl eyes you suspiciously for a moment before finally lowering her needle. "S-so... you're here... on accident..." Her voice trails off as she loses herself in thought. After regaining her composure, she turns back to you and extends a hand, a noticeably warmer expression on her face. "I... apologize for all that. I'm Nina."
With a sigh of relief, you introduce yourself. Both you and Nina take a moment to decompress from the tense situation you found yourselves in. Finally, the mouse girl turns to you.
"I'm sorry, I don't believe I've had a guest, well, ever, but wouldn't you please come in? Make yourself comfortable, I'll make some tea..."
You nod and Nina quickly rushes off to her makeshift kitchen to prepare the tea for you both. You wander slowly into her living space, taking note of the creative ways she has repurposed human objects to suit her minuscule size. Taking a seat on a couch comprised of wood scraps and shreds of fabric, you patiently wait for your host.
With two cups in hand Nina makes her way to the couch, handing you one as she curls up on the other end. She eyes you expectantly as you take a sip of your tea. The strong pine flavor feels familiar as you feel the warmth of the tea spread through you. You nod in approval. Nina smiles sheepishly.
"Thanks... I know this is probably a little more, uh, lowbrow than what you're used to in the fairy world, but I'm glad you like it. But, I gotta ask... I don't know much, but I've heard rumors... Why would you come here, amongst the humans? For folks our size it's... hard..."
You try to explain your longing for adventure to the friendly mouse girl but, for the first time in your adventures, your quest for excitement suddenly didn't seem so fun as the reality of Nina's existence set in. Still, despite the guilt you may be have felt, you continued the story of how you wound up in this particular mouse hole as Nina listened attentively.
As you finish your tale, you stare at the mouse girl, unsure of what she'll think of your exploits thus far. She seems lost in thought before, finally, her head springs up and stares at you. Nina decides...
