Chapter #7The Next Day by: BeeJay I woke up the next morning feeling stiff all over. It was as if I had been using every muscle in my body while I was asleep. I sat up, wondering why I was feeling like this. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, deciding that I needed a long, hot shower.
That was when I noticed it: I was seeing clearly, without my glasses. I had needed glasses since I was a kid; but no more. Clearly, my formula was working.
When I walked into the bathroom, I noticed another difference: The counter seemed lower than it had been just yesterday morning. And, since objects don't get smaller, that meant that I was bigger. Suspecting that that was why I was sore, I took my shower.
After my shower, I noticed that my hair seemed longer, like I hadn't gotten a haircut in months. I wasn't sure why that should be, since my formula wasn't designed to promote hair growth; but I had it now.
Back in my room, my clothes still seemed to fit me, especially since the sleeves and legs were supposed to be short. That puzzled me. I had hoped that my formula would make me more athletic; however, while I was obviously reasonably fit, it wasn't anything that would impress the jocks. Weird.

Downstairs, the family was eating breakfast together. "Good morning, Gabe," Mom said. "You must have been in a rush to get down here: You forgot to put your glasses on."
"I didn't forget," I replied. "I just don't need them anymore."
"That's impossible," Dad said. "Your eyes can't just correct themselves."
"They didn't do it by themselves," I explained. "I developed a formula to fix my various problems. And it's working: Besides my eyes, I'm pretty sure I'm taller."
"Have you lost your mind?" Mom asked. "Your body is nothing to fool around with. You could hurt yourself."
"I made sure everything I used was nontoxic. The chemicals won't hurt me; and the hormones I used are perfectly natural."
"Well, I suppose it's a little late to get upset about it," Dad said. "But I'm not wild about your longer hair."
"I think it looks pretty," Emma said.
Mom and Dad measured me, and confirmed that I was now 5', 2" tall. Time for some new clothes. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
