The first rays of dawn filtered through the frost-laced window, casting a golden glow over the cabin. Elias stirred, still nestled against Torvald’s chest, the warmth of their embrace lingering from the night before. Torvald’s steady breathing faltered as he woke, his arm tightening briefly around Elias before he spoke, his voice low and gravelly from sleep.
Elias tilted his head up, meeting Torvald’s warm, searching gaze. A shy smile tugged at his lips. “Better than I have in ages,” he admitted softly. “You?”
Torvald chuckled, the sound rumbling through his chest. “Like a bear in winter. Didn’t want to move, not with you here.” His thumb traced a gentle arc along Elias’s cheek, hesitating before he added, “Last night… you’re still okay with it? With us?”
Elias’s heart skipped, but his answer came steady, his hand resting over Torvald’s. “More than okay. I’ve never felt this… safe.” His voice softened, almost a whisper. “I don’t want it to end.”
Torvald’s eyes softened, a rare vulnerability breaking through. “It doesn’t have to,” he said firmly, pulling Elias closer. “We’ve got time, Elias. As much as you want.”
The fire had died to embers, but the warmth between them burned brighter, their quiet promises filling the morning air as the world outside slowly woke.
