"Come in," beckoned Holmes.
We were both startled into alertness when the door was swiftly and ferociously rended from its hinges. A man entered carrying the door by its knob, a baffled look on his face, as though he were surprised by his own strength. He looked sheepish as he examined the door frame, as if to see if there might be an easy way to reattach the broken door, before propping it up against the wall next to the frame it belonged in.
"Mrs. Hudson won't like that," I couldn't help muttering.
"Sorry about that," our visitor said, still looking sheepish as he scratched his back and gave us apologetic looks.
He was tall and obviously muscular, with black hair as shiny as silk arranged in the most ludicrous fashion I'd ever seen. His clothes suggested a monk of the Far East.
"Mr. Sherlock Holmes," said he, bowing graciously. "The greatest warrior who ever lived in the art of deduction."
Holmes stood up and returned the bow.
"I wouldn't say all that," said he, his proud smile contradicting his feigned modesty. "I simply observe what others won't and arrive at logical conclusions accordingly. Usually I find that when I explain my methods, they seem much less impressive than they initially appear. But your reputation precedes you as well, Goku-san. One of the most formidable martial artists from your planet, ours, or any other. I've had some modest successes in the boxing rings myself, but I must admit I am not hardly on your level."
"You're not wearing your famous hat," said Goku, disappointment obvious in his voice.
"It's not at all the right climate or environment for the ear flaps right now," said Holmes. He turned to me. "Quickly, Watson! Grab our things. If Goku-san is here to request our help, the situation must be quite urgent indeed."
"But, Holmes!" I sputtered. "It will be nearly impossible to hail a hansom at this hour."
"That won't be necessary, Watson. I believe Goku is going to guide us through the wormhole that sometimes opens right beyond the door
... well, right beyond where the door previously was located."
