You wake up in your bed. Today is the day. You’ve decided to start your new life by going out and buying a Badge!
Centuries ago, an alien ship crashed on Earth and the government began studying the wreckage. They found amazing and incredible technology that allowed all sorts of amazing abilities for even mundane people. They worked and experimented and finally developed the Badges. When equipped and activated, a Badge will expand and cover the user in a protective suit and allow them to access new, amazing powers. The suits also have an emergency shutdown feature for when the user is too injured to continue fighting or if they’re found conducting illegal activities, freezing the person inside and hardening the suit so it cannot be squashed or pierced and the person can be collected for help or arrested. The more they’re used, the better their abilities become.
While first used only for extreme jobs and circumstances, people began to test their prowess in feats of strength, ability, and endurance. A league was set up and folks from all over began to join. Soon, Badge Battling became something of a sport, then an entire job with sponsors and paychecks. Now, high-tier Badge Battlers are something like celebrities, and folks from all over aspire to be them.
As you get ready and leave your house, you think about your future and what it will hold once you have a Badge of your own. You can become a Battler, of course, but you could also get a job. Badges count just as well as college degrees these days (though having both is best) due to the abilities you now possess. You could also just… explore! Freelance small jobs for cash, roam the land, meet new people and try out things for fun.
Finally you arrive at the shop. The owner, June, greets you with a smile. When you ask, she points you to the various Badges she has for sale. Luckily, she has every kind in stock!
