Nervously, you aimed the remote at your sister, thumb hanging over the "Assign" button. Katherine was busy sipping from her coffee, unaware of what you were thinking of doing. If "Absorb" stored roles, would "Assign" apply them...? Your thumb pressed down on the button, and suddenly your sister was gone.
You blinked, watching the mug fall to the countertop with a bang. Wait, what?? Where did--
"Honestly, why does she insist on making a full pot of coffee if she's only going to drink half a mug...?"
That was your sister's voice--but why did it sound so off...? You turn towards the direction of the sound, doing a double take at what you see. Katherine stands at the other end of the counter, dressed in your mother's sleepwear and staring disapprovingly at the coffee mug she had just been nursing. She set the spoon she was holding back in its bowl and picked up the mug, dumping it without a second thought into the sink behind her.
"...K-Kat?" You stammered weakly.
"Hm? If there's something you need to ask your sister, I think it can wait until after her call, sweetie," she replied while she gave the mug a quick scrub. "In the meantime, I don't think you ever told me what you plan on doing today!"
Putting the mug in the drying rack, she turned back to face you with a big smile you recognized as your mother's. Kat rarely ever smiled in the morning. "Ooh, lemme guess--something to do with that new toy of yours?"
This was freaky--Kat was acting just like your mom, down to speaking like her. She even knew about the teasing she'd done to you before Kat had come downstairs! And just like how Kat had believed there was a good reason behind your mom's disappearance, Kat-as-Mom now thought Kat had gone somewhere.
Checking the IAMU, you notice the screen that had displayed your mom's information was now empty--you really had transplanted your mom's identity onto your sister.
