A beginner thief would usually try to steal from a quieter person who normally lives alone and doesn't usually fight back. But you're focused on a much higher goal than any normal crook.
That being; Wave the Swallow , a Babylon Rogue hoverboard rider that won so many races, either alone or with her team. In one of her recent races, she has been shown to wear a shiny dark-purple medallion around her neck, one that on the market seems to sell for a very high price. You weren't sure if she won it in a race or blatantly stole it from someone else. But you didn't care all that much, since you wished to steal it from her as well and sell it for a lot of money.
Though, you couldn't just go to her base, not with her team around and so many security cameras. So you waited until she was alone. When, she joined a race without her team around.
Then, before the rest would start, you managed to slip inside the backstage area where all the riders got ready and, wouldn't ya know it? She was there also. At the very back corner of this huge room, inspecting her gear and board instead of minding the competition. There was more than an hour before the race would actually start, which would give you just enough time to spark a plan and get your hands on her shiny necklace.
Though, you had to be believable and sell your act to her before she realizes she's getting robbed. You knew how dangerous Babylon Rogues can be, so you had to be extra careful.
Since you were already backstage, you could easily pretend that you were one of her competitors, trying to get the better of her.
Pretending to be a mechanic of some sort, who is either checking her engine or just making sure she follows the rules, is also a possibility.
Or, just pretending to be a huge fan of her could easily make her lower her guard and allow you to take her necklace.
Either act you choose, you have to be very convincing and willing to do what it takes to achieve your plain view heist.
