Review of Unbridled Showdown by Dee ![]() Well, this was not quite the Mystery I was expecting. I've been trying to get to grips with the Nystery genre and become used to detectives, murders and the like; but now a supernatural romp arrives. Ah well, it's closer to my usual stomping ground, at least. And what an entertaining tale it is. There's plenty of action, excellent description, and a determined heroine atop it all. If anything, it's a little over the top, with the farmgirl suddenly pressed into service as a circus stunt rider, but I guess the connection to rodeo gives it some legitimacy. Might be an idea to actually mention that, however. It does stretch the belief a bit when a young lass just striking out on her own turns out to be more expert with the wildest horse than the feller who's been doing it for a while. Throw in that she's been to a rodeo or two and it gets us over that hurdle. Other than that, it's a fine story with a very satisfying end. And it is true that some people have a spiritual connection to animals that allows them to handle them better than anyone else. Remember the horse whisperer? The writing is accomplished and smooth, without errors that I could see. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Review by ![]() Beholden for ![]() ![]()
