*PenB* First Impressions:

I live in the UK so I start by admitting that I don’t know much about US tax returns. I’ve never really understood the principle though. Here, you don’t have to do a tax return at all if you’re employed because the tax is withheld by the employer and paid to the tax man, and you don’t need to worry about a thing. To me, it sounds incredibly stressful having to work it out for myself, and I’m with Douglas - I, too, would delay it until the last possible minute because I would be worried about it. That might sound counter-intuitive, but his actions made perfect sense to me. He seemed very confused, as I would probably be!

*PenG* Suggestions:

This is not a new story so you might not be interested in editing it, but if you are, I noticed a few small technical errors:

After going three the envelopes
“through”

got in. as he drove
A new sentence starts with “As” so it should be capitalised.

it’s only to be too late
I think that was meant to say, “it’s going to be…”

they send it bac within forty-eight hours
Just a typo, “back”.

Driver’s license and Prove of Insurance
“proof”

That’s the excuse you are going to use to get out of this ticket.
As this is a question, it should end with a question mark instead of t a period.

Everybody know that
“knows”

*PenP* Final Thoughts:

The story flowed very well, with Douglas going through the last remaining days before the tax return was due, unable to find what he needed and not being sure about the rules. As soon as he sorted out one issue, he was faced with a different one, but you described it all with a measure of humour that foreshadowed the twist at the end - the readers didn’t know what it was going to be but were hoping for a happy ending for Douglas. And it was - despite getting a ticket for speeding, he probably preferred that to not getting his tax return sent on time. A good story!
