I discovered this with the random Read and Review button *Smile*

You've painted a memorable picture of sadness, keeping it simple yet leaving so much pain unspoken. The pup is doggedly searching for his owner, who I'm afraid has abandoned him after the destruction of her home. Was it cleared to make a freeway? Did it burn down, perhaps due to something sinister underneath the simplicity of the story?

When I write for kids, I'm always tempted to add more: more sensory details, more backstory, more of a resolution of some kind. You're content to leave it as a vignette, a snapshot, imperfect and unanswered. One hopes little Hope finds a new loving owner at the rest stop. Perhaps the cleaning lady will take care of him. I like how resourceful and spunky he is. Very much a Chihuahua. Where there's life, there's hope.

You've made good use of the prompt image. Perhaps you should add a third genre, such as Travel or Drama, to ensure visibility for future readers and seekers.
