This is simply beautiful.

The poem feels like watching winter reveal itself brushstroke by brushstroke. The imagery is so vivid and delicate that I could practically see the frost forming and hear the quiet of snowfall settling into place. I especially loved the contrast between the soft, shimmering crystal work of nature and the sudden spark of life when the cardinal enters the scene. That moment of scarlet is such a perfect touch — it lifts the whole piece.

Your language has a painter’s sensibility: thoughtful, textured, intentionally layered. Every stanza contributes to the sense that winter isn’t barren at all, but alive with quiet creativity. The final lines linger, just like the frost on a windowpane you describe.
