Shadow

I look over my shoulder and you are there.
I see a reflection, was that you?
I close my eyes at night and it's your face I see.

You haunt me, stalk me, terrify me.
Will you ever leave?
One night you came in,
You took what you wanted,
You stole the light from me.

I feel your cold breath close.
I know you are right outside the door.
I hear your threats, my screams.

You may be physically far from me,
You may not know where I am,
You may not know that you still torment me.

Yet, that hideous night you left your shadow.
