Left Behind

A poem about losing a loved one.

Your loss leaves me brokenhearted
It hurts with every breath
I cry for you my dearly departed
Trying to deal with your death

You left a hole so deep in me
When you slipped away
A hole no one will ever see
Though it's there each day

I cry each day missing you
The sorrow overwhelms me
When it will lessen I've not a clue
You're gone, and that's all I can see

I said goodbye with silent tears
Though you didn't know
I'm left here with all my fears
I'm sad you had to go

I'm left behind with all my pain
You're in a better place
I'm doing my best to stay sane
Though I still see you face

We'll meet again one day
This I know somehow
But right now here I'll stay
Left behind counting down
