How many more times can I blink away the tears

How many more times
Can I blink away the tears
Of fear, disappointment, and anger
that have consumed me over the years.

How many more times
Can I plug my ears
And try not to listen
While I cry invisible tears.

How many more times
Can I close my eyes
So that I might not see
All the cold bitter lies.

How many more nights
Can I hope and pray
That tomorrow will be better
A brighter happier day.

But I can only
Sit and wait
For the court
To decide our fate.
