A ballad from a story I began, but never truly finished. |
| In a land behind a mountain That lay beside the sea Lived a maid that's now forgotten Called Lendalee Her face was the fairest Her hair was of pure gold Her eyes were like the forest --Or so the bards have told On a warmy and balmy eve After winters' wars The king was walking on the shores And saw Lendalee She sang of peace a kindness She danced in the waves With the moon upon her white dress --It was all that she gave The king was wed that very night There beside the sea Underneath the stars alight To fair Lendalee Their love was unwavering Without jealousy or fear Without anger of hatred Without pain or tears She bore him a princess With hair like Ravens' wings And the only name that would suit his child Was Lendalee |
