A poem to a good friend, a lovely woman, hopefully to help ease her sorrow. |
| A wreath, a flower, some final words A keepsake of familiar clues A speech about a good life lived Pictures of moments long since past We languish in the past Deeds like cobwebs in the mind We dust them off Visiting one more time Such a safe place to be Secrets kept for too many years Bonded by sacred trust Memories of a personal nature Now what do we do How do we move on? Who will fill this empty void? No more script to act out If only it had been me My life so trifle to compare No one can understand The pain of them instead of me Time starts its trek forward So methodical a snail’s march Until the day the sun returns The bird’s chorus suddenly breaks through The memories become clear recollection The déjà vu met with a smile A calm and peace in remembrance Knowing we will meet again Beyond Inspired by Suzan and the Dunlap family forever remembered |
