Writer's Cramp entry: Silly poem about writng a Cyhydedd Fer (Welsh) |
| Prompt: Write a Cyhydedd fer, any topic Cyhydedd fer: (pronounced "cuh-hee-dedd ver") A rhymed couplet of 8-syllable lines; any number of stanzas Attempting a Cyhydedd Fer I hoped to find a simple word A simple word to simply rhyme That simply sounded soft, sublime Poetic verse is hard enough Without a form to make it tough The Welsh must think they're pretty smart My poem is done without a start Eight syllables in every line And then each line must intertwine These interwoven couplets form This wooly poem of Celtic norm How many couplets should there be? It doesn't matter much to me I sit here like a daffodill Thinking, drinking, searching still I simply need a simple word nearly rhyming "Cyhydedd Fer" |
