and the enemy of those things simple.
I move without restriction
never hindered by uncertainty.
I am before you and after you;
clothed in an opaque flesh
of perfect, free-ranging consciousness.
I am alive in your deepest desires
and you must pursue me
in your pursuit of happiness.
But know me for what I am;
a mirage at the desert’s edge.
real in the moments of your thirst
but flickering and fading
when you are sated.
You must believe in me,
for I cannot exist on earth
without the faith of my congregation.
When you hunger for me,
I will be there.
I am hidden within your longings,
with the winds of passion clutched in my hands.
For you, I will create
an electrical storm of love and emotion
that will wage discordant wars
over battlefields for hours without end.
Only after the conflagration
will you truly know me for what I am.
