Courage, Strength, and Love

For the contest Quotation Inspiration

In moments like this
He wants to stop time
And linger in her kiss,
Her eyes- divine.
Boarding the train,
He says his goodbye
Not knowing he'll see her face again
But knowing he'll sure as hell try.
The train leaves the station
And onward he goes
Not to any vacation
For this soldier knows
That the battlefields are tougher
Than the coldest of nights
And the battles are rougher
Than the worst of all fights.

Four months later he gets a letter
From the woman he loves with news
She tells him that things will get better
And he knows he has something to lose
For tomorrow he attacks the oppostition
At the dawn of the new sun
All the while, he'll be in dangerous position
To not get to see his new son
She sends him her everlasting love
Which gives him the courage he needs
And while he lies on the battlefield bleeding
Her love gives him strength to succeed.

He sits at home in his own favorite chair
With his baby boy in arms
He softly kisses his head and smells his hair
And knows he'll face death before his boy faces harm.
