Dead and forgotten. |
| GRAVE OF THE NAMELESS MAN No one shed tears at his passing No one prays for his soul No one lays wreaths of fragrant flowers No one comes to visit The grave of the nameless man No one misses his presence or his touch Perhaps no one knows, That he is dead and buried If you know please tell me, Who lies in the grave of a nameless man? Someone, somewhere must care Someone must be waiting for him Somewhere there must be an empty space At a dinner table or in a rocking chair Waiting for a nameless man lying in a grave Maybe someone knows he is dead But does not know where he is buried Maybe they have packed his clothes in boxes Because he will never wear them again Because he is now a nameless man in a grave Is a hopeful wife waiting? Or a disheartened widow grieving Perhaps an adulteress is rejoicing I wonder, does anyone care who is within The grave of the nameless man |
