Emily's Parents

For the 55 word contest.

A shoe, a hat, five and a half crayons, a blanket.
“Her favorite things.” The mother cried.

I scribbled ‘distraught’ on my pad.

The father’s eyes, red, traced her photograph.
I took his picture. He shouted.

I left.

The negatives came in the mail.
I got front page, but could only see her face.

Gone.
