Tail (Short Version)

An entry for a contest. The requirement was to write a story in exactly 55 words.

“It’s not like this is something I could have overlooked this whole time.  I know it wasn’t here yesterday.  It just sort of…grew.”

Vicki sighed heavily, her disbelief and annoyance absolutely unmistakable, even over the telephone.  “I really don’t have time for your jokes right now.  People don’t grow a tail overnight.”
