After a friend passed away, i wrote this to help me and others deal with the loss

IF WE HAD KNOWN…….

If we had known
There was no more time
And you were going to walk away
Would we have treasured every word,
Would we have said you made our day?
Would we have thanked you
And gave a smile
When you’d gone that extra mile?
Or would we be just on our way –
Thinking we had you
For another day.
If we had known
You were leaving us here
Never again to pass this way.
We would have loved a little more
We would have had much more to say.
It’s only now we know
How hard it can be
To dim the light from you to me.
So as all we hold dear, are only on loan,
Don’t ever say these words…….
