The Changing of the Guard

I wrote this last night after watching the changeover

I watch the daylight fade away,
The dark curtain of night replaces the day.
Suddenly the dark is no longer there,
Thousands of stars twinkle somewhere,
Somewhere out there in Infinity,
Sharing their light with you and me.
And what of the moon with her glowing light?
How gently she shines to soften the night.
