Poem Hard Times

Go to work to
Pay a bill
Or eat a meal?

Bills due
Cupboards bare
What am I to do?

Living week to week
Paycheck to paycheck
Could life be more bleak?

Choose one or the other
the mere thought
Is a bit of a bother.

A new week
Empty shelves
Overdue bills
Undeniable streak.

Can't seem to get ahead
No relief insight
Barely holding on by a thread.
