Here Rests Language, R.I.P.

This is the first thing I've written for about five years, so I'm aware I'm rusty.

(abbr.) Laughing out loud

LMAO
(abbr.) Laughing my ass off

ROFLMAO
(abbr.) Rolling on floor laughing my ass off

Why,
Has the culture of abbreviation,
Taken over our lives?

And why,
Has our friend the exclamation (!),
Died?

I'm begging you to tell me, why,
Can no1 see the pattern,
Of written language being pried
Away from us?

Please tell me why,
We call it space-age,
That we won't put the effort in?

Can somebody tell me why,
We've locked our language in a cage,
To starve, to die, and to lose -not win?

This is genocide folks,
Pure and simple,
We're killing our language,
And it's pretty damn awful.

Is when I say "language - R.I.P",
