Friendship lost

I can’t believe I lost you
I thought this was a friendship meant to last
I had not yet made those fatal mistakes
done by me so many times before
Instead it was you.
Tearing down all my beliefs
Causing me such pain.
I thought maybe we could work things out
But as time goes on I realise
That is not what I want
I have avoided fakeness all my life
You will not be the one to alter that.
