A haunted heart

Sitting as darkness gathers
watching shadows draw near
like fingers inching closer
reaching out to envelope my soul.

The silence deepens while sitting
waiting for your return
alone in a world of shadows
heartlessly closing around.

Fear quickly fills my heart
while worrying about life alone
enclosed in a shadowy darkness
wondering if you will return.

Shadows closing around me
gathering closer still
sitting in my cocoon of darkness
pulling it close like a veil.

In a world of darkness
I huddle all alone
wondering will I ever find you
or be forever on my own.
