Because You Saw Me

a bittersweet end to a series of poems I've been writing for a few years.

After all the ups and downs
The angry words spoken
The long nights crying
The trying to walk away
But you coming right back

I realized
You saw me when no one else did
You got me when no one else understood me
You helped me find me

I was so lost without you
Only angry because you left
And I didn't want to face the fact
I missed you like crazy
Needed and wanted you
In my life

You shattered my heart into a million pieces
But the reason it broke was I fell so hard
I fell so hard
Because you were so amazing

Because
You saw me when no one else did
You got me when no one else understood me
You helped me find me

You brought out the best in me
Made me happier than I've ever been
Opened my eyes to how screwed up I am
And opened my eyes to how great I am

Because
You saw me when no one else did
You got me when no one else understood me
You helped me find the real me

Months have passed since we reconnected
You became my best friend again
