The Snow Day

I wrote this a few years back. One of my favorites,even though it's short

The Snow Day

It is snowing outside
On December 2nd
Children listen to the radio
There was more snow than they had reckoned

Suddenly the announcer comes on the air
And the children lean closer to the radio
Then the announcer does declare
That school is out because of snow!

Cheers are heard all over town
Children are racing throughout the street
Snowballs flying every whichway
Landing right at the other children’s' feet

There are snowball wars going on
Snow angels on the ground
Children sliding down the hill on sleds
And behind every tree another child is found

After the children's day is over
They go to snuggle in their beds
And there they fall asleep
With their pillows under the heads
