The evening sky was black as ink....... |
Coven The evening sky was black as ink. Their hearts were black as coals, With evil intent in their minds They slunk from their dark holes. The harvest moon that once shone bright, Had disappeared from view. Lightning lit up countenances, With gruesome, grisly hue. Into the murky wood went they, Enclosed in mantles dark. To meet in coven’s the intent. Tonight they’ll make their mark. Witches and warlocks assembled, Eager to cast a spell. ‘Those who would thwart them be consigned to live their life in hell.’ A hissing, spitting, sparking fire Lit up the forest glade. They waited for the witching hour, When their spell would be made. Now heed ye well good Christian souls Let not this come to be, Christ died upon the cross for you, From sin to set you free. No witchcraft or sorcery will Befall on Hallows Eve If you give praise unto the Lord, And in him you believe. Rhythm 8-6-8-6 Rhyme abcb © Sue Carroll – October 2008 |
