A poem written in Quatern Form |
| In shadows strolling, here am I as sun rays dance as though with mirth. Radiant beams stroke leaves that lie like a warm cloak for naked earth. Within the forest turning green, in shadows strolling; here am I. The birth of spring can now be seen as new born birds begin to fly. Clouds of cotton adorn blue sky like downy pillows in the air. In shadows strolling, here am I where I ‘m filled with awe and stare. For His creation I extol with joyful teardrops in my eye. An awesome wonder fills my soul; in shadows strolling, here am I. Author's Note: A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme. |
