Military school kills the soul.
Here I lay
Half past dark
Listening to the
Breath of my fellow
Inmates.

Sharing their dreams,
Understanding their pain
Wondering if they, like me
Cry silent years.

On the outside we are
All hardened criminals.
We have all shed blood,
We laugh at pain
And scorn at the weak.

On this inside
We all have died.
We exist merely to breathe.

We have no dreams,
We have no hope.
We are corpses that live.

The black of our eyes.
Are portals into the souls that
No longer wish to live.

Our fate holds a doom
Incomparable to any
We’ve ever felt.

They say we are a threat
They say we are dangerous.

Truth be told,
We are a threat to no one.
But ourselves.
