a poem for anti-valentine's day. |
| Lurking in the unearthly silence of twilight, Hidden behind every façade of safety, Atop the highest peaks known to mankind; There lies man’s greatest fear. It has the power to knock you down, Leaving you completely breathless, But making you wish you’d live forever; Time’s greatest paradox. Once it invades your thoughts, Takes over your every move, And becomes you; You’ll never rid yourself of this infection. You think you have control, But it will pin you down, And irrevocably entrap you; It’ll be the death of you. Like a dog tied to an old oak, Pulling away with all it’s might, Coming back when it can’t bear the agony; There’s no escape. You’re trapped for all eternity, In this endless cycle of torture, Only death can save you from it; This is your fate. It will leave scars on your heart, Ripping your soul into microscopic specks, And keep you coming back for more; This is love. |
