| Giving by David A. Chalfant I met someone once who taught me to give, And I’ll never forget her as long as I live. I’d watch in amazement as she’d rush around Holding everyone up, so they wouldn’t fall down. It never even mattered the credit or cause She’d lend in her hand, whatever it was. And though I thought she was crazy half the things she would do, She somehow had a way of making me want to help too. ‘Cause with her it was never a question of why. If somebody asked her, I knew she would try to do it, no matter the task, For no other reason than the fact that they asked And she gave me something that I’ll never loose, Though I’m perfectly willing to give it to you. It’s a lesson about giving that everyone should know And should be given away wherever you go. You see, giving’s not about what you get in the end, You give ‘cause the giving lets others know you’re a friend. |
