After The War

After The War

We fought till the end
fought to the death
many claimed they won
but in the end we all lost
We killed our planet
we killed it
killed beautiful Earth

We forfeited peace
for hatred and pain
we went to the shelters
shelters for peace

We stayed there
for many years
and when we finally
reemerged
we were struck with destruction

We knew no one
could go back for the door we locked
behind us forever closed
few stayed back as we went forth
to create a new Earth
