A poem about the Apollo and Daphne myth. |
| As the whimsical cloud rifts Apollo's grace shines on through From shadow to light now shifts Bathe thy nymph a golden hue Moon from Sun to star lit sky The River's daughter does flee Daphne's allure caught his eye “Flesh to bark” her desperate plea Father nods her wish comes true To the grass falls a sprite's harp Love scorned just as Cupid knew The Sun God's heart broke apart “Let my tears water this tree Your laurel crown stays with me" |
