What Happened?

this is referring to us as a nation, us as a world, now in distress and depression.

What happened to us
in the past few years,
we used to be
happy, and recession free

Did out hope just get snatched
away like a child,
or did we
give it away
to the
terrorists,
extremists,
and governments of the world?

What happened to the light?

Did someone forget
to pay the bills,
or did we just flip the switch
choose darkness instead.

All the hurt in the wold
for all eyes to see,

I ask what happened to us,
but what happened to me?
