Instead of Sleeping

I wrote this as part of my novel while listing to Owl City, and it ended up being a poem.

Tonight instead of sleeping I'm going to the sea
That enchanting blanket that's cloaking the world
Will you come with me?

Close your eyes
Breathe in the salt seasoned skies

Watch the wave pound the rocks into sand before gently flowing out
Listen as the hush your thoughts and drown your mind
Rid your mind of doubt

Step forward slowly
Take your time
Place your shaking hand in mine

The waves try to leap out and escape their captivity
Only to be sucked out again hopelessly
Revealing natures duality

Maybe one day I'll see the real thing
But for now I'm content to sit with you
Dreaming
