To discover my thoughts, to show you my face
Not the one you know, but the person that I am,
Not the one you see, but the real me.

I've been hiding in a shell for a long time now,
But I promised something, I took a vow.
I won't hide who I am, I won't live this way,
And I'll let the world know that I have something to say.

But I have this fear, I have this doubt,
It's just something I've been thinking about
It may seem like I don't care
But hatred from the ones I love I couldn't bare

I don't want to scare them, but I won't pretend.
They have to know - their wounds will mend.
They might be confused, but they won't be mad -
They are my friends, they will understand.

This is the time and this is the place
To discover my thoughts, to show them my face.
They will know, I will be me,
They will realize whom they missed to see.
