If Life Was Fair

I just wondered how life would be it everything were "fair"

If life was fair,
Would there be wars?
And would world hunger be ignored?
If life was fair,
Would the young grow old?
And would homeless people sleep out in the cold?
Would people desire such worldly things
As cars, clothes, mansions, or diamond rings?
Would fires burn in peoples souls?
Would people keep secrets,
Dark and untold?
Would music still soothe the savage beast?
Could Fidel and George Bush partake in a feast?
Would prisons be necessary, crime still flourish,
Without hate, anger and envy in the world to nourish it?
Or would things be the same as they now are,
With me still here, struggling to reach my star?
Tears running down my unchanging face.
Moving the fastest, but getting nowhere in the race?
Yet still I wonder, would there be pain and despair,
If in this world we inhabit, life were fair.
