A poem about regret.

Little Icy Fingers

I can feel you touching me
with little icy fingers.
Reminding me what a mistake I made.
And, why can't I just remember?
I remember.
Trust me.
You will not let me forget.
I made an utter fool of myself.
My self-respect, I did neglect.

So, from your icy fingers
I need a reprieve.
I'm chilled to the bone
by my stupidity.
I vow to be more careful
the very next time,
I feel a suggestive touch,
lend my lips to a coercive kiss,
or hear a stupid line.

Maybe you could be more of a help to me
the next time I cross this path again;
to touch me BEFORE I make this mistake,
instead of asking me later to remember when!
