Contest entry for the Coloring the World Contest Truth telling disease |
| Veracious Tongue Disease The house echoed with the sound of a slamming door. What did she expect me to say? She knew I would tell her the truth. She knew the answer anyway. The dress she bought was much too tight and she was not a girl of slight. If she would check the mirror, the truth she would see. Instead I am the one she asks, and now she's mad at me. My flapping tongue won't sit still. With a mind of its own, it freely expresses how it feels. Because of this disease, my friends are few and far between, and getting fewer by the day. Doctors say that nothing can be done, aside from cutting out my tongue. Thought that I could keep it to myself, and not let it speak out loud. So I opted to keep my tongue and prayed, that someone wouldn't opt to punch me in the mouth. But soon I know the day will come when the number of my friends will come to none. I will be left sitting all alone, spouting off the truth that nobody wants to know. I have no control over what my tongue decides to say and do. I am just as surprised as you. There is no cure for this disease, maybe I should seek solitude. Soon, I'm sure I'll be on the run. Chased out of town, courtesy of my veracious tongue. Coloring the world contest |
