Another poem speaking of the aggravation a nightshifter goes thru

A Little Sleep

A little sleep is all I ask.
But in short all I get is -
kiss my ass.
No respect for those who sleep in the day.
Their constant interruptions
keeping me awake.
The train blaring it's horn
when it passes the crossing.
The neighbors and their dogs
with their incessant barking.
The ringing telephone interrupts my sleep.
And if not the phone,
then the kids down the street.
Patience, I have none;
causing the bitch to come out.
Looking at me crazy -
wondering what I'm ranting about.
It's not my fault,
all I want is some sleep.
Instead I'm serenaded by
the train,
the phone,
the kids down the street.
My neighbors and their dogs,
or the cars that go beep.
Is it too much to ask
for just a few winks?
Just a few short hours
of restful sleep?.
