A poem about the cat that practically lives in my house |
| Tail twitching, you chase mice In your sleep, Curled up on my bed. As I watch you, your ears flicker, listening for Silence. It is my turn to shift And you are awake. You Sit up and watch me. Yellow-green eyes stare me down, Daring me to move, to breathe. I don't dare. You curl back up, A house cat once more. Tamed. Asleep. You look peaceful. I know if I tease you, you will Become angry. Once more a wild cat. I don't dare. So I let you sleep, Tail twitching. |
